La beauté derrière l'honneur est un concept qui a fait partie du black metal de Kyūketsuki mais chaque nouvel album nous rappelle un peu plus que c'est du passé. Si on peut traduire Himitsu par "Secret", ce n'est pas en rapport avec ces savoir-faire uniques jalousement gardés mais bien à une honte, soit mentale qui pervertit l'âme ("Himitsu", "Akumu Act II") soit physique qu'on veut cacher ("Horrors of a Malformed Man"). Les ambiances sont plus rares, remplacées par du black metal dissonant.

Je vois en Seppuku le plus parfait miroir à KATANA. Ce dernier faisait la peinture de samouraïs qui, ennoblis par le sens du sacrifice personnel, obtenaient le droit d'admirer les étoiles. La pochette, grâce au vent, était animée. Dans Seppuku, c'est tout l'inverse : l'homme est prostré, regarde le sol. Le black metal de Kyūketsuki est angoissé, comme apeuré par la défaite. L'acte du Seppuku ne suffira pas à laver l'honneur : après la mort, il est plonge en enfer, pourchassé par les démons.

Trinity nous abandonnait sur une terre morte et désolée mais, grâce à la pochette, on pouvait au moins se raccrocher à quelque chose d'humain. Celle de Prisme va jusqu'à nous retirer ça aussi : nous sommes mis face à un silhouette sanglante collée au mur, seul fragment restant d'un corps qui a été atomisé par une explosion. Le black metal ambiant de ∇ suit la même logique nihiliste : Ghoul hurle d'une voix décharnée, le jeu de Draak se fait plus mécanique et les mélodies frôlent l'insupportable.
